About Us
Every business deserves to know if its AI is working.
AI may be the most powerful tool a small business has ever been handed. It can write a week of posts in minutes, answer customers at midnight, and help an owner decide what to stock, what to charge and where to grow next. But anything this powerful can also go wrong, quietly and quickly: a wrong price sent to every customer, an answer nobody checked, a tool that costs more than it returns. That's why AI has to be measured, and measured again, for as long as it's in use. METRIS™ was founded to help startups and small and mid-sized businesses do exactly that, and make AI decisions they can stand behind.
Is this AI tool actually worth it?Yes, this one pays for itself.Who is using what?I know who uses each tool. Are we getting a return?Checked every month.Where should we invest next?Customer service is next.
MISSION AND VISION
Our mission
To help startups and small and mid-sized businesses see what their AI is doing, fix what isn't working with their own people, and measure again to show what changed, one clear step at a time.
Our vision
We see a future where a bakery owner, a five-person startup and a two-hundred-person company can all answer the same four questions about every AI tool they use: where it's used, what it costs, who checks its work, and whether it's paying off. Large companies have whole teams to answer these questions. A small business has the owner, at the end of a long day. We believe they deserve the same clarity.
What we believe
AI should pay for itself.
Not every AI tool is worth what it costs. A subscription nobody opens, or a tool that saves ten minutes and creates an hour of fixing, isn't paying off. Owners should know which is which from their own records, not from a vendor's promise. That is what return on investment means to us.
AI should be used responsibly.
For a small business, small mistakes travel fast: a wrong price in a post, a wrong answer to a customer, a private detail pasted into a chat. Responsible AI starts with something simple: a person checks AI's work before it reaches a customer.
Every business needs guardrails.
Guardrails are a few house rules, written down: what AI may do on its own, what a person must check first, and what AI should never touch. They don't need to be complicated, but they do need to exist before something goes wrong.
People and AI work best together.
We don't believe AI replaces the people in a small business. The owner's judgment, the baker's eye and the way the front counter knows regulars by name are things AI can't do. The businesses that do well will be the ones where people and AI each do what they do best. That is why we look at teams, never individuals, and why every fix we make is made with your people.
OUR PROMISE
Our promise to you
Plain words, always. You'll never need to learn our vocabulary to understand your results.
We only say what your records show. If your records can't show whether something saved money, we tell you that instead of guessing a number.
We look at teams, never individuals. Nobody in your business is scored or blamed.
One step at a time, and you can stop anytime. You keep everything you've received, and you never have to buy the next step to keep your results.

Suneeta Modekurty is a data scientist and bioinformatician, and she does the analysis herself. When you work with METRIS™, the person reading your decision records, building the models and explaining what they found is the founder.
Her work began in research. She spent years doing cancer and Alzheimer's research at Indiana University and Washington University in St. Louis, where a finding only counted if someone else could check how it was reached. She has carried that habit through ten years of building AI and data science systems in healthcare, health insurance, title insurance, finance and life sciences. An important decision should rest on evidence someone can examine, not on a vendor's claims.
